Student life

Chester, Birkenhead and Warrington offer vibrant locations for our students. Chester is a bustling 21st-century city balancing big-name shopping, eating and living with a thriving independent scene. Birkenhead is a historic riverside town with excellent transport links to Liverpool, a growing arts and cultural scene, green parks, and a variety of shops, cafes and markets. Warrington is a lively town with great restaurants and bars, shopping and plenty of events.

Chester Students’ Union (CSU) helps students to shape their experience, meet new friends and create lots of amazing memories. CSU hosts a range of events and projects to celebrate liberation, equality, diversity and inclusion. With around 100 different sports clubs and societies for students to get involved in, and friendly representatives who welcome new members; there’s truly something for everyone.

We offer a wide range of accommodation options for all budgets, and offer adapted rooms for students with specific physical needs. We also have close links with a number of private sector residences.

What's it like to live in North West?
Check out our region guide

The North West is made up of Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Merseyside. Its two biggest cities, Liverpool and Manchester, are global landmarks in music and football history.

The region was the heart of the industrial revolution – at one time, Lancashire produced half the world’s cotton. Many architectural reminders of this era remain, like Liverpool’s Royal Albert Docks and Chester's Victorian centre.

The stunning Lake District – home to England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike – needs no filters, while Blackpool is a seaside adventure.
